One of the challenges we experience with our water quality here in Florida is “hard” water. Hard water contains high levels of dissolved calcium and magnesium and produces many undesirable conditions. These include inhibiting soap’s ability to lather resulting in “soap scum,” spotting on dishes and most harmfully, scaling on the inside of your home’s pipes.

There are many ways to combat or eliminate hard water. Perhaps the most popular of these is the use of a water softener. These units typically use a brine solution with a high concentration of sodium to remove the calcium and magnesium from the water and “soften” it. Other solutions include using reverse osmosis or magnets to alter the molecular structure of the water.

Recently, we were introduced to a new approach to combating the adverse effects of hard water, the HydroCare.

The HydroCare unit connects to your piping and transmits low-wattage electrical frequencies up and down the system to treat your home’s water supply as it sits in the pipes waiting to be used. The unit’s manufactures offer that “as environmental issues, energy conservation and the climatic change become ever more important, HydroCare's physical water conditioners are the only realistic non-chemical alternative to protecting against lime scale in domestic water systems.” But what do their customer’s say? One of their more prominent European customers, British Gas reports “It is considered that the ideal device for reducing or eliminating hard water scaling problems should be continuously effective, cheap, and simple in operation, need no constant attention from the user, and have long periods of operation without the necessity for service. This water conditioning device came close to ideal on our test rig and it surpasses the performance of all other non-dosing devises by a large margin. It is clear that the device has provided a level of performance under severe test regime almost 3 times better than the best of the other water conditioning devices.”

Another unrivaled ability of this unit is that it not only removes scale and prevents build-up, but also works over time to remove the build-up that had collected in the pipes before it was installed. This makes this water conditioner retro-active. That is something we’ve never seen before. Other strong selling points include it’s comparably tiny size, ease of installation and cost.

Water conditioning is expensive. Whole home filters are out of reach for many people and, in our opinion, many water softeners sacrifice quality to achieve affordability. The HydroCare unit is a whole home solution that most household’s could feel comfortable investing in.

This unit stands out in so many ways among it’s peers that we jumped at the chance to begin offering it. We hope you’ll agree.
