We were recently introduced to a truly revolutionary product by Michael Schuster, a forth generation plumber and both founder and president of MJSI, Inc.  MJSI is focused on water conservation and believes that their products will play an important role in the future of our planet.  In this issue of Solutions & Insights, we’d like to introduce MJSI’s HydroClean Water Fill Valve to you.  Often it seems that the forward push of progress is bent toward the novel or the grand.  But every now and then someone comes along and re-thinks the logic behind one of the small blocks of an industry’s foundation and offers a quicker, cleaner or more efficient way to do the same thing.  That is the kind of thinking that went into the HydroClean.

The HydroClean fill valve saves water in three distinct ways.  The first is the patented Mini-Valve that allows the tank to be calibrated to the proper water flow without compromising flush efficiency.  Miscalibration is a leading source of water loss, even in Ultra-Low Flush Toilets.  Second, the HydroClean’s patented TurboJet technology releases powerful jets of water with each flush that remove rust and sediment from the toilet tank and helps to prevent build-up of slime on the flapper.  This eliminates the need for chemical drop-in toilet bowl cleaners, which can damage the tank components.  The third water-saving feature is the HydroClean’s ability to detect leaks and notify homeowners with an audible signal if a leak is detected.

Additionally, the HydroClean fill valve is designed with 3 features that make it easier to install and use.  The Positive Locking Mechanism allows adjustments to be made to the valve in the tanking simple quarter turns.  The patent-pending Smart Nut feature signals when the bottom nut is tight.  This prevents both cracking of the nut from over-tightening and tiny leaks from the nut not being tightened enough.  Finally, the patent-pending Float Lock allows the water from the tank to the toilet to be shut-off so that the flapper can be replaced without shutting off the water to the toilet or the house.

“I believe the HydroClean is a true breakthrough technology in plumbing,” says Schuster.  “Our life-cycle testing showed that the HydroClean flushed over 250,000 times without a problem.  Based on national averages, that’s enough flushes to last for well over 69 year, which is a significant water and money savings for consumers.”
